NEWTOWN, CT — This Christmas, Newtown Stage Company will bring “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical” to the Edmond Town Hall stage Dec. 13-15 and many Monroe residents are involved.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” has surged in popularity with the 2024 release of the Lionsgate film. Now is your chance to see the musical adaptation of this classic Barbara Robinson tale live on stage.
This is a holiday musical for all ages that tells the story of the Herdmans, who are the worst kids in the history of the world. When they crash Sunday school and demand parts in the big Christmas pageant, the whole town panics. There’s not supposed to be biting or cigar-smoking in Bethlehem.
Soon everyone, from the terrified shepherds to the furious church ladies, is calling for reluctant director Grace Bradley to fire the Herdmans.
It’s up to Grace and the Reverend to help their community see the Christmas story and the Herdman kids through new eyes in this musical adaptation of the funny and touching holiday classic.
Silent night? Not a chance. But sometimes a little joyful noise is just right for Christmas.
Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, and at 1 p.m. on Dec. 14, and 15 at the Edmond Town Hall Theater, 45 Main St. in Newtown.
Tickets are on sale now and can be reserved online by visiting newtownstageco.com. Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Buying tickets in advance is recommended. Historically all Newtown Stage Co. productions have sold out.
