MONROE, CT – Batters will take on curve balls, sinkers, high heat and hunger when Wiffle Ball Fun Day comes to Wolfe Park Saturday, June 18. The annual tournament, now in its third year, raises money for the Monroe Food Pantry.
Aside from tournament play, there will be longest hit and throwing contests by age group.
The event will be held Saturday, June 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, June 19. Tournament play, which starts at 9 a.m., will be by the following leagues:
● Major League: Fast Pitch with Adults and Older Kids
● Minor League Triple A: Slow pitch with Adults and Older Kids
● Minor League Double A: Slow pitch with Adults and Younger Kids
● Senior League: Slow pitch with Adults 50 or above
The per team registration fee is a $60 nonrefundable donation to the Monroe Food Pantry. There will be five to six players on a team with four players on the field at a time. Individuals donating $10 to the Monroe Food Pantry will be placed on a Catch All team(s).
Registration with payment is required no later than June 3. Any participant under age 18 must have his or her parent or guardian complete the tournament’s Parental Authorization form. There will be no day of game signups.
Awards will be given to the Tournament League Champions. There will also be a Participation Awards drawing amongst the other teams in each league.
Longest Hit and Pitching Contests by age group (Up to Grade 1, Grades 2-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-8, Men’s High School and above, Women’s High School and above, Men’s Senior 50+, and Women’s Senior 50+) will also be held.
Anyone can also just drop by to test their hitting and pitching skills between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. While there is no cost for participating in these contests, a donation is appreciated. Awards will be given to the Longest Hit and Pitching Contest Champions by age group.
