Stepney firefighters use a ladder truck to raise Old Glory

Stepney volunteer firefighters raise their giant American flag on Main Street Sunday.

MONROE, CT — Stepney volunteer firefighters raised their giant American flag on Main Street Sunday for the hundreds of motorcycles to ride by for the 23rd CT United Ride, the state’s largest 9/11 tribute.

The firefighters succeeded in raising their flag. However, they had to take it down when strong winds bent a metal ladder it hung from. In its place, they extended their ladder truck, which had a small flag hanging from it.
