MONROE, CT — The town is responding to the needs of small businesses by offering Build Your Business, a free six-week virtual workshop series via Zoom.
Monroe Economic Development Commission Chairman Ray Giovanni said nearly 1,000 questionnaires went out to businesses last November to determine what types of assistance the town could provide to make them more effective.
Of the more than 100 responses, Giovanni said consistent themes included concerns over financing needs, marketing know-how, modifying existing business models, social media initiatives and e-commerce advice.
A joint effort of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Fairfield County SCORE, and Edith Wheeler Memorial Library made the seminars possible.
“Sales and service is pivotal for all businesses to be successful,” Giovanni said. “This series will address the techniques necessary to master a holistic approach to doing business successfully in each seminar presented by experts. With the business owners in mind, presentations will be at noon and at 6 p.m.”
The seminars will be held on Thursdays from Feb. 17 through March 24. Those who cannot attend will be able to listen to taped presentations at later dates, he said.
The first seminar will be at noon on Thursday, Feb. 17, Dr. Ileana Kotulich: Create Your Comeback Success; how a setback can set you up for a comeback.
