MONROE, CT — Connecticut Realtors®, the state’s largest professional trade Association, and the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), a leading advocacy group for small businesses, have both endorsed State Rep. Tony Scott’s reelection in the 112th District, representing Monroe, Easton and Trumbull.
Scott is being challenged by Beth Cliff, a Democrat from Easton.
In its endorsement of Rep. Scott, CT Realtors® wrote, “the Association carefully evaluates candidates in determining who may best ensure a positive environment for living in or transferring property in Connecticut.”
“I am proud of the work I’ve accomplished as Ranking Member of the General Assembly’s Housing Committee to bring balance to legislative proposals in recent years,” said Scott. “We should be working with housing providers to better support the industry, so that more people will be able to afford a quality place to live. The legislature should reject contentious zoning proposals, such as Fair Share, that would put us on a path to removing rental units from the already tight housing market.”
The Connecticut-based political action committee for the NFIB signaled to its members that Scott should be sent back to the legislature to help promote Connecticut’s continued economic recovery by writing, “you will be committed to the needs of thousands of Main Street small businesses and their employees in Connecticut when you are elected to serve in Hartford.”
“I appreciate NFIB’s recognition of my votes in support of small businesses,” Scott said. “This builds on my record from another leading Connecticut business group, CBIA. I’ve received a 100-percent record from CBIA on pro-business legislation each of my four years in office.”
Connecticut Realtors® represents nearly 19,000 members involved in all aspects of real estate in Connecticut. It promotes and advocates ownership of real estate in Connecticut to make it a better place to live, work and play.
NFIB is the leading small business association in the nation with thousands of members in Connecticut representing a cross-section of the state’s economy. For more than 75 years, NFIB has advocated on behalf of America’s small and independent business owners, both in Washington, D.C., and in all 50 state capitals. NFIB is nonprofit, nonpartisan, and member-driven.
Scott, of Monroe, is the Ranking Member of the Housing Committee, and serves on the General Law and the Higher Education and Employment Advancement committees.
