MONROE, CT — Families will have an opportunity to receive free school supplies, along with the chance to win a $10,000 college scholarship for their children by participating in the School Rocks Backpack Giveaway this Sunday.
Wireless Zone, an authorized Verizon dealer at 464 Main St. in Monroe, is among the stores hosting this event Sunday, July 31, from 1 to 4 p.m. The 10th annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway is being held at locations across Connecticut and throughout the nation.
Wireless Zone organized the event with its sister company, TCC.
Free school supplies
Local families are invited to visit their nearest Wireless Zone store to pick up a backpack full of supplies, such as pencils, paper, a pencil box, folders, a ruler and glue. Backpacks will be handed out while supplies last.
In addition to receiving backpacks, families can also enter their children in a sweepstakes to win a $10,000 college scholarship.
Children in grades K-12 are eligible for entry and can be registered at their local stores during the School Rocks Backpack Giveaway event. Five scholarships in total will be awarded to randomly selected winners.
The school supplies are meant to alleviate supply cost dilemmas for families and prepare students for their upcoming school year.
