Scary-good Car Show-Trunk or Treat benefits Special Olympics

McKenna Norton wears her costume to the Trunk or Treat Car Show Saturday.

MONROE, CT — Spooky, scary, pretty and hairy — children in costumes of all types were on hand for Saturday’s Trunk or Treat Car Show at Fireman’s Field, an event benefiting Special Olympics Connecticut.

The day was organized by the Monroe Police Department and four car clubs throughout the region: Monroe Street Rodders, Round Town Cruisers, Trumbull Classic Car show and Connecticut Seaport Car Club. The Monroe Volunteer Fire Department allowed use of its field.

The costume winner was Angela Kapetaneas, who dressed like a doctor.

Show cars — including a restored 1926 Ford — on hand were equally as scary as attendees. Cobwebs, spiders and skeletons decorated cars appropriately for the occasion.

There were at least two grim reapers — one trunk or treating and another handing out candy (Joe Sandella, whose display included a reminder to not drink and drive).

There was a parade for the costumed ghouls and ghosts. The costume winner was Angela Kapetaneas, dressed like a doctor.
