MONROE, CT — Boys from Monroe boy and girl Cub Scout Pack 162 sold boxes of microwavable popcorn and bagged varieties like white cheddar and cinnamon crunch, along with cans of salted cashews and roasted nuts, on a table outside the Dunkin’ Donuts at 135 Main St. Sunday morning.
“It’s the annual Popcorn and Nut Push,” said Megan Rajski, the popcorn kernel. “The troop uses it to fund their activities.”
She said it also helps scouts reach their individual goals, by gaining skills to be good community helpers.
On Sunday Om Mehta, 9, sold popcorn and nuts with his fellow scouts Torin Alexander, 10, Lucas Rajski, 8, and brothers Gavin and Declan Murphy, both eight.
Cub Scout Pack 162 is made up of about 50 students from grades K-5 at Stepney and Monroe elementary schools.
The scouts will be selling snacks again next weekend. They will be outside Benedict’s Home and Garden, 480 Purdy Hill Road, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
