MONROE, CT — Saturday was a Rotary Day of Service and Monroe’s Rotarians spent their morning installing mile markers at Wolfe Park and cleaning up the camp grounds at Webb Mountain Park.
Shekhar Mehta, president of Rotary International, who has been encouraging every Rotarian to do more in their communities, called for the Rotary Day of Service.
Nine mile markers were installed at Wolfe Park with four on the trail and five around Great Hollow Lake. The trail signs at the lake are two-tenths-of-a-mile apart and the trail signs can be seen every quarter mile.
Volunteers toiled in the pouring rain, while cleaning up the 11 campsites at Webb Mountain Park, before a strong sun came out later in the morning.
