Robert “Doug” Stevens, a long-time resident of Monroe, recently of Trumbull, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on March 25, 2025.

Born in Concord, N.H., he was the son of Patricia Jewell and Robert Stevens. Doug graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Engineering and earned his MBA from Wagner University.

He worked for many years at Westinghouse Electric, including Bryant Electric in Bridgeport. After leaving Westinghouse, Doug pursued consulting and teaching, contributing significantly to professional societies such as the Association of Supply Chain Management (ACM, formerly APICS).

He was a fellow and CPIM certified, serving on the Danbury Chapter Board of Directors. Doug was influential in creating certification programs and holding educational courses around the greater Danbury area, and he taught at Western Connecticut State University in the School of Business.

Doug was active in the parish of St. Jude’s in Monroe, including serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and as a Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, including Ellen, his loving wife of 55 years; his son Rob; his daughter Amy; his “bonus son” Umit; and their families.

When asked the secret to a long, loving marriage, Doug was quick to respond, “respect.” He also understood the value of the phrase “Yes, Dear.”

Doug is survived by his wife Ellen; son Robert G. (Alison) Stevens of Lexington, Mass.; daughter Amy (Brian) Carroll of Fairfield; grandchildren Trevor and Adela Stevens, and Liam and Noah Carroll; his brother Scott (Jodie) Stevens; and sister Kay Knight, along with nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his “bonus” son, Umit, who came to live with the family in 1989 as a foreign exchange student and has maintained a close relationship with the family since then. Umit currently resides in London, England, with his family.
