Monroe, CT — Area Republicans unanimously endorsed incumbent State Rep. Tony Scott as their candidate for the 112th District at the convention, held in the Town Council Chambers of Monroe Town Hall Tuesday night.
After recent redistricting, the district now includes all of Monroe, about half of Easton and a portion of Trumbull.
“It is truly humbling to have the unanimous support of Republican delegates from Monroe, Easton and Trumbull to represent them up in Hartford,” Scott said. “To have their trust to be their voice in the legislature is very meaningful to me.”
Scott said he decided to run for office again because he feels there is more work to be done and is concerned about the direction of the state — particularly due to Connecticut’s high cost of living, crime and lack of support for Connecticut’s businesses.
“I promise to staunchly serve the residents of 112th District in Hartford, being the voice, they deserve,” Scott said. “I ask for my constituents to please speak up and let me know your issues so I can help address them like I have done during this recent session that just ended.”
Scott is finishing up his first term as representative and serves on the Public Safety & Security, Human Services and Higher Education & Employee Advancement committees.
