Denise Schutte, 61, of Monroe and beloved wife of Kevin Schutte, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Denise, who was born on March 26,1963, in Bridgeport to Kenneth and the late, Frances Koch, had worked for many years in the cafeteria of Fawn Hollow Elementary School in Monroe.
Denise, who we playfully called Garcia, was loved by all. She cherished being a mom and was a great mother to both Nick and Samantha, who would not be where they are today without her love and guidance.
She was a gentle soul with a heart of gold and was a friend to many. She asked for nothing and would do anything for anybody. She always put everyone’s needs above her own. Her smile was infectious and would light up any room and her generosity knew no bounds.
Anyone who knew Denise was aware of how much she loved her two dogs, Cooper and Bear, and her cat Callie, who was glued to her side. Like us, they are keenly aware of the painful hole her passing has left in all our hearts. We will miss her terribly.
In the summertime, you could either find her at Karen’s pool floating with a nice cocktail or at Home Depot, where everyone knew her personally, buying every flower they sold for the backyard deck oasis which she tenderly cared for all summer!
The simple pleasures in life are what she enjoyed the most, such as going to the beach, being on the boat, going to concerts, watching ghost stories and murder mysteries, and listening to country music. She enjoyed listening to the radio all the time and singing along, slightly off key and missing some words of course, while dancing around the house … LOL!
She enjoyed our family trips to Florida for many years to visit Patsy and friends. She also enjoyed our numerous trips to the family cottage on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire.
Although Denise is gone, she will live in our hearts forever. A free spirit who just loved life!
In addition to her loving husband of 44 years, she is survived by her children, Samantha and Nicholas; her father Kenneth; sisters Karen Beavers (Darrell) and Christine Honeyack (Darren); brother-in-law Thomas Schutte; nieces and nephews Alec, Tommy, Jimmy, Jackie, Carly, Randy, and Sean. She is predeceased by her sisters Deborah Storm and Ann Marie McCarthy, as well as her mother-in-law, Patsy Schutte and father-in-law, Thomas Schutte.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Saint Jude Parish Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Burial will be private.
In reflection of Denise’s love of animals, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Monroe Animal Shelter or the ASPCA.
