MONROE, CT — A proposal to construct two buildings at 169 Enterprise Drive to house R. Stone Co. LLC’s production and office facilities was unanimously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission Thursday night.
The company, which cuts stone for building facades and interiors, plans to move its operations from Bridgeport to Monroe.
According to the plan, two buildings will be built on Enterprise Drive, one for production and the other for offices. Both buildings will be steel with a stone veneer and stand at approximately 20 feet tall.
The property will be landscaped.
The company already has approval from Newtown to bring the raw materials to Monroe, where a machine will split stones into the desired shapes, while the work is performed in an enclosed space. Then a water system in the other building will ensure there is no dust.
The finished products will be delivered in trucks, but Production Manager Joseph Tivadar said there will only be two-to-three truck loads going out per day.
Tivadar said there will be no retail on the site. “We’re a producer/manufacturer. We’re not open to the public,” he said during the hearing.
