MONROE, CT — First Selectman Terry Rooney declared Sunday, March 23, to be Joe Moravsky Day in honor of Monroe’s famed American Ninja Warrior on his birthday.
Rooney presented his proclamation inside the gazebo in front of Monroe Town Hall in front of Moravsky’s wife, Stephanie, children Emily, 9, Jacob, 7, and Dylan, 4, his parents, Joseph and Robin Moravsky, and in-laws, Mario and Maureen Silveira.
Also in attendance was Rooney’s wife, Nadine, and his goddaughter, Mia Medieros.
Moravsky, who is a professional Ninja Warrior athlete, manager of Stamford Ninja Academy, and a freelance meteorologist, plans on opening more Ninja Academy gym franchises with his business partner, Tom Alberti.
Moravsky who competed under the moniker “The Weatherman,” said ninja warriors is a sport with building blocks much like gymnastics.
“I want to continue the growth of this sport,” he said. “It’s a workout you do without knowing it’s a workout, because you’re having so much fun.”
