A driver lost control of her Honda Civic on a sharp curve and a small patch of ice heading south on Hattertown Road Sunday morning, leading to a rollover crash in which her car struck a tree.
Police said the rear-end of the car began to slide on the ice, when the driver over-corrected, causing the Honda to spinout of control and go off the road before the crash.
The driver, identified as Atanna Wiggins, 22, of Fern Lane Road in Newtown, had no injuries and was issued a verbal warning for failure to maintain her lane and traveling too fast for conditions, police said.
The crash occurred around 7 a.m.
A theft of Red Bull
Big Y World Class Market reported a theft of Red Bull energy drink from the store on Monroe Turnpike Saturday afternoon.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20’s, who drove off in a black Chevrolet Cobalt. Police are investigating the theft, which was reported around 3:20 p.m.
Ford Ranger hits tree
A Newtown man lost control of his Ford Ranger heading south on Main Street Friday, when he turned right to avoid stopped traffic in front of him and went off the road, slid over a sheet of ice on a driveway in the 890-block of Route 25 and hit a tree, according to police.
The driver, Richard Jacquot, 78, of 301 South Main St. in Newtown, was issued a written warning for failure to maintain his lane.
