MONROE, CT — A couple allegedly dined and dashed after eating dinner at El Coyote Restaurant, 838 Main St., Saturday night.
Police said the couple, who appeared to be in their late 20s to early 30s, arrived at 8:30 p.m., ran up a $114.35 bill and left the restaurant an hour later in a newer model Chevrolet Suburban.
Auto theft
A white, 2015 Ford Focus was reported stolen from the driveway of a Millo Drive residence Sunday.
Police said the victim last saw the vehicle at 11 p.m. Saturday, and did not notice it was missing until 4 p.m. the next day. The Ford Focus is valued at $15,000.
Traffic stop leads to DUI
A 23-year-old Monroe man was charged with DUI following a traffic stop on Pepper Street April 29.
Police officers using radar on Pepper Street clocked a Subaru Crosstrek going 43 mph in a 25 mph zone and initiated a traffic stop, according to police.
The driver seemed confused by basic questions police said, adding there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage on him and a 30-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon on the passenger seat.
Field sobriety tests led to an arrest. He was charged with DUI and traveling unreasonably fast. The driver was released on $500 bond for a May 9 court date.
