MONROE, CT — Volunteers created a garden on a patch of grass near the playground at United Methodist Church of Monroe this spring, and the beds are now full of flowers, vegetables and herbs.
Among the plantings is a pollinator bed with a dwarf butterfly bush with milkweed, dahlias, lavender, marigolds, aster, dianthus and forget me nots.
Vegetable beds have basil, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, carrots and lettuce. Some other plantings include sunflowers, pumpkin, bee balm and yarrow.
