MONROE, CT — Children climbed inside trucks, emergency vehicles and even a school bus in the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library parking lot Friday. After a one year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, Big Truck Day was back.
Police vehicles, a fire truck, an ambulance, a public works dump truck, an RWS garbage truck, and a private, military-style vehicle were all on display.
“We had at least 80 kids,” Wendy Fox, an assistant children’s librarian, said of the event, which was held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Firefighters, police officers and Monroe Volunteer Emergency Medical Service members gave children demonstrations, and goodie bags with coloring books. The library also had crafts for the children throughout the event.
