New Haven man charged in Monroe theft

MONROE, CT — A New Haven man turned himself in on a warrant Monday morning, charging him with the theft of a purse containing credits cards, taken from a vehicle parked on Hawthorne Drive in late August. One of the stolen cards was used for a purchase at a deli in New Haven, police said. Jamell Hutchings, 18, was charged with payment card theft, illegal use of a credit card and criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny. He was held on $10,000 bond and taken to court Monday morning.
