New Teacher Profile: Nicole Busch to bring math to life in Monroe’s elementary schools

Nicole Busch strives to make fellow educators feel confident, supported and excited about math and science.

Name: Nicole Busch

Position: Math/science specialist for Monroe’s three elementary schools

Background: This is Busch’s 14th year in education. She is coming to Monroe from Norwalk Public Schools, where she was the math coach at Kendall Elementary School.

Where did you grow up?: I grew up in Floral Park, N.Y., and moved to Trumbull when I was going into high school.

Education: A bachelor of science in finance and a master’s in education from Sacred Heart University, and a master’s degree in educational technology from Fairfield University.

What do you like most about being a math coach?

What I like most about being a math coach is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at both the student and teacher level. I love collaborating with educators to bring math to life in their classrooms — helping them feel confident, supported and excited about the subject.

There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing students grow, not just in their skills, but in their belief that they can do math.

What are you most excited about working in Monroe?

I’m really excited to join Monroe because of the strong sense of community and collaboration. I can’t wait to support teachers and help students build confidence and a love for math and science!
