MONROE, CT — The 26th annual Clarksons Platou/Monroe Rotary Golf Classic will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, at Whitney Farms Golf Club in Monroe.
The golf outing will support the Monroe Rotary Club’s philanthropy for local causes such as Project Warmth and charitable organizations like the Monroe Food Pantry, and Feed the Hungry. The Rotary also awards scholarships for high school students and donates money to international projects, such as efforts to eradicate polio.
Another program the Rotary is known for is its drive to give dictionaries to school children.
The Clarksons Platou/Monroe Rotary Golf Classic committee recognizes how difficult the economy has been for many residents and businesses due to COVID-19, and is appreciative of any businesses, vendors, volunteers and golfers who become involved in the fundraiser.
Dennis Condon, a committee member, said over 50 businesses have already contributed $4,000 worth of prizes for raffles.
