MONROE, CT — Monroe will open registration for all grade levels for the 2025-2026 school year on its website, monroeps.org, on January 8, 2025.
As of July 1, 2024, the Connecticut General Statutes require that children need to turn 5-years-old on or before Sept. 1 to be automatically eligible for kindergarten.
The statute also states that a child who is not 5-years-old on or before Sept. 1, but turns 5 before Jan. 1, may be admitted to kindergarten based on a school readiness assessment selected by the school district.
Monroe parents/guardians of children who fall in this birthday range of Sept. 2 through Dec. 31, and wish to have their child considered for kindergarten entry in 2025, must make a written request to Terri Stellato ([email protected]), administrative assistant to Superintendent Joseph Kobza, and the child will be scheduled for an in-person assessment in March of 2025.
All incoming kindergarten students, both those who are automatically eligible and those needing assessment, should register through the website, monroeps.org, beginning January 8, 2025, when registration opens.
For information regarding registration and early kindergarten entrance, visit the school district’s website and click on the “Registration” circle icon on the front page.
