Stolen copper coils
Westport police turned a 64-year-old Bridgeport man over to the Monroe Police Department on a warrant Saturday, charging him with the theft of $240 worth of copper coils from a town business three years ago.
Police said he was an employee of an HVAC company, which often stores junk material like old condensers and coils at its Moose Hill Road property. In May of 2021, he was captured by a surveillance camera removing copper coils, taking it to his vehicle without permission and leaving with it, according to the report.
The theft was reported on July 7, 2021 and police applied for an arrest warrant.
On Saturday he was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on $500 bond for a Dec. 4 court date.
