Monroe detectives investigating $135,000 fraud case

MONROE, CT — Police detectives are investigating a fraud case, in which the email of a Stevenson business was hacked and a Stratford construction company it does business with was directed to make payments totaling $135,000, which did not go to the Monroe company.

Police said the 10 payments, made between November of 2024 and January of 2025, were sent to different names and account numbers.

The owner of the Stevenson business notified his bank and monitored his accounts for fraud, and the Stratford company filed a separate police report in its own town.
