MONROE, CT — Crowds gathered on Monroe Congregational Church’s grounds and around the Town Green for the start of the annual Strawberry Festival Saturday morning, making parking a challenge.
Festival goers shopped at various booths, buying handcrafted jewelry, gourmet snacks, photographs, paintings and other pieces of art, while talking to the vendors and learning the stories behind their purchases.
While adults shopped, sampled the diverse selection of foods, relaxed and listened to live music, young children jumped around inside a themed bouncy castle. All of this activity took place to the tunes of the Trunk Band.
The festival, which has been a Monroe tradition for over five decades, continues today (Sunday) from 12 to 5 p.m.
