MONROE, CT — A Father’s Day Sidewalk Sale will feature haircuts from Phil’s Hairstyling, lunch from Nunnu’s Sandwich Shop and scoops of Uncle Al’s Ice Cream.
The Monroe Economic Development Commission is sponsoring this event, to be held on June 18 and 19. EDC Chairman Ray Giovanni said 18 local businesses are participating.
“Our goal is to promote ‘Shop Local,'” he said. “I’m hopeful that more businesses will participate by the time we get to this date, and we hope the fathers will all have a marvelous holiday with their families.”
Giovanni said a wide variety of businesses are participating in the sidewalk sales, adding the event has the support of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
“We have everything, from Pet Choice, which will have samples of its products, to Gach Jewelers, which will have 10 percent off all purchases,” he said, adding the jewelry store will have its sale indoors.
Businesses will have the sales on their sidewalks or inside their stores and hours will vary. Among those participating are:
