MONROE, CT — A scarecrow display is coming back to Great Hollow Lake’s driveway this fall, when local businesses show off their creativity for the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department’s third annual contest.
There is a $75 fee to enter and all proceeds benefit the Social Services Exchange Fund, providing scholarships to families in need of assistance, allowing them to enroll their children in the Summer Fun Days Camp program.
The Halloween display will be up from Oct. 19 to Oct. 31, and visitors to the park, who walk or drive by, will cast their votes for the best scarecrows on the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department website.
The winning business will be announced on November 1, 2022 and will be awarded a complimentary one day picnic rental for 100 or fewer guests during the 2023 picnic rental season.
The $75 fee per scarecrow includes a sign and a stake. Each entry will have a sign in front of the scarecrow to advertise the business. The deadline to enter is Oct. 11. To download an entry form, click here or visit the parks and recreation website.
