BETHEL, CT — The No. 7 seed Masuk High baseball team pushed No. 2 Bethel into extra innings, before falling 1-0 in nine frames in the South-West Conference Tournament quarterfinal matchup on Saturday.
“Quinn McGuire pitched seven scoreless innings for us, allowing only three hits and striking out eight,” Coach Brian Hourigan said of the strong pitching that kept the Panthers in the game.
Steve Curtin had a triple and single at the plate. Colin Hope and Quinn McGuire also had singles.
Bethel broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff single, stolen base and walk off double.
Next up for Masuk is the Class L state tournament, which starts the day after Memorial Day. The pairings have yet to be released.
