NEWTOWN, CT — The No. 7 Masuk High girls’ volleyball team did not make things easy on No. 2 and host Newtown in the South-West Conference Tournament quarterfinals Monday. Newtown prevailed in three games, but had to overcome a 10-6 Masuk lead and a 22-20 Panther edge in the third game.
The scores were 25-19, 25-17, 25-23.
Mary Henry had an ace for a 14-11 lead and Kailey Kusick added an ace just inside the line to help keep Masuk in front multiple times in the third game. The last game was close throughout and featured 11 ties, including when Kusick put away a point to even things at 23.
