Masuk swims past Barlow-Bethel

Mert Baykus and the Panthers had a strong meet on Tuesday.

MONROE, CT — Led by some of its younger swimmers Masuk High defeated visiting Joel Barlow-Bethel 72-60 on Tuesday.

The 200 yard medley relay of sophomore Mason Eannotti, junior Carter Adragna, senior Brendan Kirberger and sophomore Mert Baykus was first in a time of 1:48.43.

Sophomore Will Hardy won the 200 yard freestyle race in a time of 2:10.04. Kirberger took first in the 200 individual medley in 2:08.74 and Baykus took second in the event in 2:26.36.

Adragna won the 50 free in 23.82 and took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:07.53.

Eannotti won the 100 butterfly event in 1:00.39 and sophomore Akshaj Yerragudi was second to the wall in the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.20. Junior Jack McHugh captured the top spot in the 100 free in 55.34.

Kirberger won the 500 free making his final touch in 5:02.59, followed by Baykus in 5:37.66.

Masuk exhibitioned the final four events after locking up the team win. The 200 free relay team of freshman Matthew Businaro, senior Logan Julian, junior Thomas Rodriguez and Yerragudi recorded the fastest time in the event with a 1:48.53.

The Panthers had the three best times in the 100 backstroke race with Eanotti finishing in 58.10, Hardy timing in at 59.18 and McHugh finishing in 59.36.

In the 400 free relay Baykus, Eannotti, Kirberger and Adragna had the fastest time clocking in with a 3:59.54.
