MONROE, CT — The Masuk High softball team topped visiting Notre Dame-Fairfield 7-2 on Monday.
Sofia Lieto hit and inside the park grand slam and Julia Bacoulis contributed with her pitching arm and bat. Bacoulis struck out a dozen batters and allowed three hits and walked four. Bacoulis also hit a double as Masuk improved to 8-1 and Notre Dame fell to 5-5.
Natalie Lieto went 1-for-2 with a double, Alyssa Castillo went 2-for-4 with two singles, Grace Ely went 1-for-2 with a double and Ella Bunovsky went 2-for-4 with a single and a double. Aubrey Zvovshe-Ramos and Isabel Viglione both contributed with a single.
Tennis aces on the court
Masuk’s girls tennis team posted a 7-0 win over visiting Stratford on Monday, earning 6-0, 6-0 wins in each match.
In singles play, Lexi Goldberg Friedman, Meghan Velky, Elana Kanjo and Elizabeth Teixeira all came out on top.
In doubles action, Masuk’s winners included the team of Leila Giampe and Chloe Norton, Samantha Davoren and Madison Poisson and Olivia Beloblosky and Prisha Saxena.
