STRATFORD, CT — Backed by pitcher Julia Bacoulis, who fanned 13 batters and allowed just two hits and two walks, the Masuk High softball team blanked Immaculate 6-0 in in the South-West Conference Tournament semifinals, at DeLuca Field on Tuesday evening.
With the win, the Panthers move on to the championship game, a date with Newtown, at DeLuca Field this Thursday. Game time to be announced.
Izzy Viglione walked, was hit by a pitch and had a solo home run, which came in the third inning.
Bacoulis led the Panthers in the hits department, going 2-for-4 with two singles and 3 RBIs. Natalie Lieto had a single and a long fly ball that was caught at the fence, allowing Madison Aguirre to score on a tag up from second.
Ella Bunovsky contributed with a single to get the first hit for Masuk. Sofia Lieto got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in Bunovsky.
