MONROE, CT — The Masuk High softball team had its hitting shoes on to start the year. The Panthers clubbed seven hits and defeated visiting Fitch 10-2 at home on Saturday.
Masuk struck with three runs in the first, added five in the third and answered Fitch’s two in the fourth with two of its own in the fifth.
Julia Bacoulis struck out 14 batters and allowed just one hit.
The Panthers cashed in on five Fitch errors, but had plenty of production at the plate with Aubrey Zvovushe-Ramos going 3-for-3 with a single, two home runs, three RBIs, and a stolen base.
Danielle Dube homered in the fifth inning. Alyssa Castillo and Madison Aguirre each had doubles and Ava Moretti had a single.
For Fitch, Grace Cosmopoulos had a home run to drive in both runs.
