Masuk Orchestra performs winter concert in late December

MONROE, CT — The Masuk Orchestra performed its winter concert featuring performances from the Masuk Sinfonietta and the Masuk Full Orchestra, in late December.

The Masuk Orchestra played “Overture to the Magic Flute,” “The Bird-Catcher’s Aria,” “Tamino Love Aria: The Enchanted Photo,” “Whether Girlfriend or Sweet Wife,” “Queen of the Night’s Aria,” “Pa-Pa-Pa-Papageno,” “All’s Well That Ends Well,” and “Variations On A Well Known Sea Chantey,” which are all part of Mozart’s opera, The Magic Flute.

“It’s a great piece because it has a lot of variations,” Lisa Homann, the orchestra director, said of “The Magic Flute.”

In the orchestra, Emily Clark, Joaquin Da-Crespo, Nicholas Jackson, Lindsey Merriman, Ava O’Leary, Christopher Olala, and Alathia Rowley, played cello. Shivani Anand, Caleb Purdy, and Filip Wadolkowski played bass. Miley Balzaire, Allison Benedetto, Teddy Dakov, Yuraj Das, Kauan De ‘Sant’anna, Lexa Dixon, Hannah Fedak, Casey Frangus, Peter Frangus, Kayla Genest, Betty Glus, Sophie Gustinis, Addison Hickey, Tanya Hugar, Lila Matmati, Mateo Nwosu, Rosamaria Rodrigues, and Krystal Sakal played viola. Jocelyn Allen, Richard Bierut, Fiona Connolly, Evelyn Crawford, Jewelianna Crawford, Casey Cummings, Caleb Drew, Aniya Eagle-Cozier, Zuhair Farhan, Lelia Giampe, Jonathan Giordano, Derek Gordon, Emma Hannum, Giovanna Headley, Ysoris Herrera, Dylan Huber, Emily Lin, Amanda Meyerle, Aiza Mufti, Jonathan Pan, Ryan Panella, Lam Pham, SiYi Robifker, Veronika Rodriguez, Keira Rowley, Ryan Seif, Emma Sheppard, Ava Schoeder, and Daniel Wilenski played violin.

The Masuk Sinfonietta performed Symphony No.88 (written by Franz Joseph Haydn and arranged by Merle Isaac), “I’ll be Back for Christmas” (written by Micheal Hopkins), “A Festival of Lights” (arranged by Bud Capuro).

The Full Orchestra played Farandole (written by Greorge Bizet and arranged by Merle Isaac), “Theme From New York” (written by John Kander and arranged by Bob Cerulli), and “Holiday Cheers” (arranged by Victor Lopez).

The orchestra students who played in the sinfonietta were Lindsey Merriman, Ava O’Leary, Shivani Anand, Miley Balzaire, Kauan De ‘Sant’anna, Lexa Dixon, Hannah Fedak, Casey Frangus, Sophie Gustinis, Addison Hickey, Lila Matmati, Krystal Sakal,  Richard Bierut, Evelyn Crawford, Casey Cummings, Lelia Giampe, Emma Hannum, Emily Lin, Ryan Panella, Lam Pham, SiYi Robifker, Veronika Rodriquez, Ryan Seif, Ava Schoeder, and Daniel Wilenski.

As for the band students who made up the full orchestra, Angelina Colabella, Matthew Colberg, Tanisha Gera, Katie Klisenbauer, Jeremiah Purdy, and Emma Troesser played clarinet. Emma Troesser also played the bass clarinet. Isabella Colabella, Emma Dachsenhausen, Veronica Field, and Sienna Jones played flute.

Harry Li, Allison Merriman, Dennell Sidne, and Alexandria Troiano played alto saxophone, Abigail Troesser played the soprano saxophone, and Ari Ashe played the tenor saxophone. Samantha Davoren, Santiago Ordones, and Ben Solano played trumpet.

Aiden El-Sahragty played the trombone. Cameran Meas played baritone. The percussion section consisted of Alex Arcos, Adam Briggs, Dan Kocan, Antonis Konstantinidis, Micah Russell, and Alex Wulinsky.

The concert was under the direction of Lisa Homann, Michael Ances, and Margaret Chaves.
