Masuk laxmen strive for playoff qualification this spring

MONROE, CT — Coach Terry Stroz and the Masuk High boys lacrosse team are looking for day-to-day development to add up to end-of-season success this spring.
“Our goal is to qualify for the postseason in both our league and the state tournament. Most importantly, we are looking to grow each day and show growth every single day,” Stroz said.

It all gets started Saturday when Newington visits for an out of conference clash at 11 a.m.

The South-West Conference is full of tough teams, but the Masuk coach is hopeful competitive spirit will be high within the team itself at practices and that it will translate into success when games are played.

“Every team will bring a challenge to us, however, our biggest challenge will be our own team. We need to show up every single day,” Stroz said.

AJ Cavanaugh, who plays midfield, returns for his second season as captain.

“Our strength on the field will be our defense. We have tremendous leadership from AJ and other fellow leaders. It will take hard work each day for us to reach our goals,” Stroz said.

Other key team members include midfielders Christian LaBella, Max Viglione and Andrew Picci; defenders Jake Viglione and Damian Tomaszewski; and attack players Riley Kyle and Evan Taylor.
