SHELTON, CT — The Masuk High hockey team avenged a 3-2 setback to the Staples-Brien-McMahon-Norwalk (STORMAC) co-op with a 5-2 triumph at the Sports Center of Connecticut on Wednesday night.
Christian LaBella scored twice and had two assists for a big four-point night and Luke Kondub had a goal and assisted on each of the other four to compile five points. Teddy Walsh and Connor Kelenbach both scored, with Walsh also picking up a pair of assists for a three-point performance.
Masuk outshot STORMAC 47-19 and goaltender Maddex LaFountain earned another victory with 17 saves.
The Panthers improved to 10-6-2 heading into the final two games of the regular slate. Masuk visits BBDI (Brookfield, Bethel, Danbury, Immaculate) at Danbury Ice Arena on Saturday at noon. The Panthers host Newtown-New Fairfield Wednesday in Shelton at 8 p.m.
The Panthers are ranked fifth in Division III and just behind BBDI (9-5-3) in the state standings. Masuk and BBDI are also looking for one of the top spots in the conference playoffs as the regular slate winds down.
