MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s boys’ golf team has had a nice start to the season, posting five wins against six opponents thus far.
The Panthers defeated New Fairfield/Abbott Tech 165-217 at Whitney Farms Golf Course on Sept. 8.
Masuk had its first road match, at Brookfield/Sunset Hill Golf Course, on Sept. 14 and defeated the Bobcats 164-175.
In their best performance of the fall, the Panthers defeated visiting Bunnell 158-290 on Sept. 15.
In the New Fairfield match, Masuk’s John McIntyre earned medalist honors with a score of 35. Justin Carriero shot a 42, and Colin Abbott and Alex Guigno each had a 44.
In the Pomperaug/Stratford match, Giugno led Masuk with a 42 and Carriero had a 43. McIntyre, Abbott and Brien Trimbach each had a 45.
Guigno and Brookfield’s Tim Whitlock were co-medalists, each scoring a 39. Abbott was Masuk’s next best scorer with a 40.
Against Bunnell, McIntyre was the medalist with a 38. Trimbach had a 39, Guigno 40, and Abbott and Carriero each had a 41.
The Panthers are 5-1, including a 167-204 season-starting win over Joel Barlow on Sep. 2.
Next up, Masuk will visit Notre Dame – Fairfield on Sept. 22.
