MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s girls volleyball team is on a roll. Winners of four straight matches, the Panthers carry a record of 8-3 overall (8-1 in South-West Conference action) into a Thursday, Oct. 10, home match with Stratford at 7 p.m.
The Panthers followed up a 3-0 win at New Fairfield on Sept. 27 and 3-1 victory over Pomperaug at home on Sept. 30 with a pair of road victories.
Masuk beat Bethel 3-0 on Saturday, Oct. 5. Mia Tyler recorded 6 aces, 31 assists and 7 digs; Laura Micu had 4 aces, 12 kills and 6 digs; and Abby Urkawich had an ace to go along with 10 kills and 4 digs.
The Panthers visited Brookfield on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and won in four sets. Lily Yerrington racked up 5 aces and 10 kills; Tyler had 4 aces, 35 assists and 10 digs; Micu posted 13 kills and 9 digs; and Urkawich logged 11 kills and 8 digs.
After hosting Stratford, Masuk is scheduled to visit Weston on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m., visit Notre Dame two nights later for another 6 p.m. start, and return home Saturday, Oct. 19 to host Bunnell at 7.
The regular season concludes Monday, Oct. 21, with a rematch against Brookfield, in Monroe at 7. This match will not count in the conference standings, but will apply to the state rankings.
The top four conference teams get first-round playoff home matches and will compete for a spot in the Thursday, Oct. 24, semifinals. The SWC Championship will be held at Western Connecticut State University Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m.
