Masuk girls tennis team has success on the courts

Top singles player Lexia Goldberg-Friedman competes during recent action on the court.

MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s girls tennis team has won its share of matches this spring and, even within team losses, has had plenty of singles and doubles success. The Panthers have defeated New Fairfield, New Milford, Notre Dame-Fairfield, Stratford and Bunnell.

Masuk had a pair of hard-fought 4-3 setbacks this past week, dropping a home match to Immaculate of Danbury on April 29 and falling at Brookfield on May 1.

In the Immaculate match top singles player Lexia Goldberg-Friedman won her match 6-3, 6-2 and the first and third doubles tandems came out on top with Lelia Giampe and Prisha Saxena winning 6-8, 6-3, 6-0 and Savanna Cedrone and Mackenzie Stepkoski winning 6-2, 7-5.

In the Brookfield match Goldberg-Friedman celebrated her 17th birthday in style with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph. No. 4 singles player Olivia Beloblosky also won her match, prevailing 5-7, 7-5, 10-4.
The third doubles tandem of Maryam Rios and Cedrone won 3-6, 6-3, 10-6.
