The teams will square off again in the SWC quarterfinals, when the No. 6 Rebels head back to Monroe looking to avenge this defeat to the No. 3 Panthers. They will meet Friday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
In Wednesday’s game, New Fairfield opened up a 14-4 lead through one quarter of play. Masuk trailed just 19-17 at the half and it was a 26-25 Rebel lead going into the fourth.
The Panthers outscored their counterparts 17-8 in the final stanza to earn the win.
Dani Dube and Bailey Bajda led Masuk with a dozen points apiece, Grace Kearney scored 11, Hannah Fagan had four and Olivia Garrity added three.
A big part of this game was foul shots. Masuk was 9-for-10 from the free throw line and New Fairfield went 5-for-14.
