MONROE, CT — The Masuk High girls basketball team won its fifth game in six contests to begin the year, bouncing back from a hard-fought 38-36 setback to Brookfield on Friday with a 45-41 win over Joel Barlow the next day, then toppling Staples of Westport 69-41 on Wednesday. All of the games were on their home court.
Against Brookfield, the Panthers got a dozen points from Dani Dube, nine points from Bailey Bajda, six from Grace Sheppard and three each from Charlotte Pinto and Hannah Fagan.
The Panthers built a 39-24 lead through three quarters and held on to defeat Barlow. Dube led the way with 16 points, Fagan scored nine, Grace Kearney logged seven and Bajda netted four.
Masuk drained a dozen 3-pointers in the win over Staples. Pinto hit a trio of shots from downtown and Bajda, Kearney, Dube and Grace Sheppard all hit a pair from behind the arc. Dube led the way with 20 points and Bajda scored 18.
