WESTPORT, CT — The Masuk High girls basketball team went on the road and battled with FCIAC foe Staples before falling 40-31 on Friday night.
The game was even at 10-10 after one quarter of play and Staples held a 21-16 halftime lead before pulling away in the third quarter.
The Panthers got eight points from Peyton Webb, who hit a couple of early 3-pointers, seven points from Maddie Farrer and six each from Bailey Bajda and Grace Sheppard.
“They worked super hard tonight,” Masuk Coach Dan Young said. “We’re scratching the surface of where we’re going to be.”
Masuk is 1-1, having defeated Wilton 48-41 in Monday’s opener. The Panthers are off from game action until after the New Year when they visit Brookfield Friday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m.
