MONROE, CT — A special meeting of the Board of Education, which may lead to a decision on Masuk Head Football Coach Steve Christy’s job status, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was moved to Thursday after a snowstorm canceled school. The coach was put on administrative leave last season pending an investigation into the culture of the football program.
Below is a listing of this week’s school board meetings.
On Thursday, Jan. 18, the Board of Education is holding a special meeting in the media center at Masuk High School at 7 p.m., starting with a discussion and possible action on the Masuk football coach. The board intends to discuss this matter in executive session, which is closed to the public, and upon exiting may take action when back in public session, according to the agenda.
This meeting will continue with agenda items from the regular board meeting that was changed and include more budget presentations.
Prior to the special meeting, a Policy Committee meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. to go over revisions of board bylaws on its taping and recording policy, revised policy on student admission/placement, a new policy for instruction for its One-to-One Chromebook program, its Bring Your Own Technology policy, and revised Technology Acceptable Use policy.
On Wednesday, Jan. 17, the Ad Hoc District-wide Master Plan Selection Committee will meet in the Masuk High School media center at 6 p.m. There will be a discussion and possible action regarding a response to bid proposals for planning and architectural services in connection with a district-wide master plan. An executive session is anticipated.
