MONROE, CT — This spring, Coach Mark Alswanger and the Masuk High boys tennis team is aiming to build off last year’s 11-4 record, tie for second place in the South-West Conference, and upset of Watertown in the first round of the Class M State Tournament.
This year’s captains are Sidarth Anil and Owen Smith.
Other team members include Siddarth Pamulapati, Anish Sharma, Aidan Silvestro, Jack Dankenbrink, Kevin Hayes, Sawyer Judge, Manva Sannappanavar, Daniel Sanchez and Rayhaan Shaik.
Last spring, the Panthers were the No. 11 seed and defeated No. 6 Watertown before falling to SWC rival Weston in the quarterfinals of state play.
“Our goal this year is to keep moving forward as a team, working hard on improving tennis skills and understanding how to win matches to earn the best record we can earn,” Alswanger said.
The regular season got underway Tuesday when the Panthers edged Newtown 4-3 at Wolfe Park.
