MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s boys’ soccer team shut out visiting New Milford 4-0 on Friday.
Sophomore Jasper Pike led the scoring and had a part in all of Masuk’s goals. He netted a hat trick and recorded an assist. Senior Kyle Mulloy added a goal and an assist. Senior Jake Gniadek and junior Hadara Sisay also had assists in the game.
All players got into the game and contributed to the win, coach Brendan Cavanaugh said.
The victory followed Masuk’s battle-back tie at Weston on Sept. 14. The Panthers fell behind 2-0 early and scored once late in the first half and again late in the second half.
Pike scored the first goal and was assisted by Sisay. Senior Jake Gniadek tied the game with an unassisted tally.
“It was a complete team effort,” Cavanaugh said. “Players who came off the bench did a great job stepping in for players who went down with injuries. Weston is a great team and I am proud of the way my boys battled back into the game and never gave up.”
It will be a battle of Panthers when the Pomperaug of Southbury Panthers visit Masuk on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m.
