MONROE, CT — In a clash between South-West Conference teams that call themselves the Panthers there was no doubt there would be a Panther win. Masuk High’s baseball team left little doubt it would be its squad in an 8-0 win over Pomperaug at home on Wednesday.
Pitcher Quinn McGuire was dominant, throwing a complete game shutout, striking out 11 and allowing only five hits while walking none.
At the plate, Colin Hope had two singles and drove in a pair of runs. Dan Curtin had two hits and scored a run. Steve Curtin had a single and a double. Justin Feinstien had a two-single and an RBI on a bases loaded walk. Quinn McGuire added an RBI on a sac fly.
For Pomperaug Noah Pane doubled. Kyle Parker, Brandon Schuessler, Ben Casey and Joe Kovach had singles. Masuk visits Newtown this Friday at Fairfield Hills at 6:30 p.m. and returns home to face Weston Monday, May 6, at 4:15.
