MONROE, CT — Masuk High’s baseball team shutdown visiting Brookfield’s offense in a 4-0 win on April 17. Then the Panthers came from behind for a 5-3 road win over Stratford on April 19, before falling to visiting New Fairfield 12-0 on Thursday.
In the win over Brookfield, Justin Feinstein pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the victory. He allowed only three hits and struck out five. Greg Nivison got the final two outs of the game for the save.
Drew Scalia had two hits and three runs batted in and Ryan Fedeli had two hits and scored two runs. Chris Welch added an RBI.
Against Stratford, Nivison pitched 6 innings allowing three runs and striking out six to get the win. Connor Fulchino pitched a scoreless seventh to get the save.
After falling behind by two runs, Masuk got on the board on a Connor Fulchino RBI single. Masuk tied the game in the fifth when Fedeli led off with a single, Nivison had a bunt single to third base and Fedeli scored on an overthrow. Nivison later scored on a Scalia sacrifice fly to give Masuk a 3-2 lead.
Stratford tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the sixth, Jackson Zylick led off with a single and then scored from first on a Nivison triple. Nivison then scored an insurance run on Welch’s sacrifice fly.
Coach Brian Hourigan’s Panthers are scheduled to host Notre Dame-Fairfield Monday, April 24, at 4 p.m.
