MONROE, CT — It was a thrilling end to a come from behind finish for the Masuk High baseball team. The Panthers overcame a pair of four-run deficits to stun visiting Fairfield Ludlowe 9-8 in walk-off fashion on April 13.
Jackson Zylick singled on an 0-1 count, scoring two runs and bringing the Panthers back in their final at bat. Zylick had two hits and also scored a run.
The Panthers led 2-0 before the Falcons plated six in the second inning. Masuk scored twice in the third, but Ludlowe reclaimed its four-run advantage with a pair in the fourth.
Masuk plated three runs in the sixth to get to within a run. Chris Welch had two hits, including a double, and knocked in a pair. Drew Scalia had two hits and three RBI. Ryan Fedeli had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Greg Nivison collected two hits, including a triple, and two walks, and scored three times.
Scalia earned the victory, surrendering two runs on two hits over five innings of work. He struck out four. Ben Londono threw two thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.
