MONROE, CT – Democrat Nick Kapoor recently received three endorsements to his Special Election race to represent Monroe and Newtown residents of the 112th District in the Connecticut House of Representatives.
Kapoor, who is a math teacher at Fairfield University, received a 100-percent on his Connecticut Education Association questionnaire, because of his record of supporting excellence in local schools as a member of the Monroe Board of Education.
Kapoor was also endorsed by 3.14 Action, a group that works to elect STEM professionals to political offices all across the country. 3.14 Action’s mission statement is, “We’re on a mission to elect more scientists to Congress, state legislatures, and local offices. As trained problem-solvers, STEM professionals are ready, willing, and able to find solutions for the significant challenges facing America in the 21st century.”
3.14 Action said, “a mathematician, Nicholas will fight for science and facts at the policymaking table as part of the Connecticut House of Representatives.”
The Sierra Club endorsed Kapoor as its chosen candidate in next Tuesday’s special election, because of his life-long commitment to preserving the environment and to sound conservation policies.
“It’s an extremely gratifying slate of endorsements,” Kapoor said, “and I couldn’t be more proud or more honored to be recognized for my positions on three such different fronts: education, the environment and my commitment to a science-based, data-driven approach to the challenges we face in Hartford. These will all be focuses of my legislative and constituent work when elected to represent Monroe and Newtown in the State House.”
