Janice Berliner found tremendous joy in her family, friends

Janice Berliner, 96, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Janice was born in New York City to the late Dr. John D. Rosenfeld and Claire Rosenfeld (nee Goldstein). She graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1944 and went on to earn a Bachelors in Sociology from Russell Sage College.

She worked as a teacher, social worker and full-time mom, and will be most remembered for her role as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.

Janice found tremendous joy in her ever-growing family and numerous friends. She volunteered her time for the Monroe Mothers Club, the Monroe PTA, the Monroe Board of Education and the Bridgeport Hospital Auxiliary.

Janice is survived by her devoted children: Edward Berliner (Barbara), Andrew Berliner (Maureen), James Berliner (Shirley), her adored grandchildren: Jonathan (Jacqueline), Rachel (Brian), Matthew (Tiffany), Katherine, Daniel, David (Katherine), Nicole (Ross), Michael (eng. Summer), Marc, her cherished great-grandchildren: William, Blythe, Blake, Margot, Aiden, Benjamin, Ezra and Samuel, and her sister Nancy Greener (Tony).

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Mortimer Berliner, and her sisters Ellen Jodaitis and Eugenie Harris.

A private graveside service was held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at B’nai Israel Cemetery in Fairfield. To share a condolence message, visit greensfuneralhome.com.
